12 x WORLD CHAMPION and OLYMPIC Captain visits DUBAI for the first ever 2 day TRAINING course

12 x WORLD CHAMPION and OLYMPIC Captain visits DUBAI for the first ever 2 day TRAINING course

Oscar Chalupsky – an international paddling legend – has just stunned the world, again, by winning the ARB Durban World Cup event by more than a minute from the next competitor who was 15 years his junior.  In doing so, Oscar also managed to clinch title of World Champion by heading the rankings in the inaugural surfski.info paddler ratings in its first full year of operation.

The only person not surprised was Oscar himself, who said “I always go in expecting to win.  This may seem unusual for my age, but I truly believe I still have it in me to win at the highest level.”

A supremely confident, and some would say supernatural, athlete, Oscar has an incomparable paddling resume.  He started winning events in 1979 and is still winning 28 years later.  These wins are from across the paddling disciplines. Being chosen to be the captain of the South African Olympic team in 1992, speaks volumes of the high regard in which he is held at the highest levels.

Oscar is also involved in the development of paddling at the grassroots level in South Africa.  He has always been known to share insights with other paddlers, even when he is racing against them in serious competition – and they usually admit that his advice was spot on after the race.

All of those who [paddle or who are interested in the emerging sport, which is perfectly suited to Dubai, stand to benefit from this vast experience and  knowledge, as Oscar stops over in Dubai from 25-July to 27-July to compete in the second Epic Chase Series and to run 4 training sessions for interested paddlers at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi.
