Love the Big Screen? The 4th International Film Festival now in Dubai
The 4th International Film Festival started in Dubai today, the 9th of December. This is the ideal chance for movie buffs and the casual movie-goer alike to enjoy films from various parts of the world. The year 2007 features nine categories showcasing the best creations of the year and visits from various Hollywood celebrities, including George Clooney. The festival runs till the 16th of December in various locations across the city.
- The Cultural Bridge is one of the most important programs, highlighting stories about eliminating cross-cultural barriers between East and West and the role of Cinema in the process of building the bridges.
- Arabian Nights - out of competition section aimed to present works of Arab and non-Arab filmmakers.
- A Celebration of Indian Cinema - picture of strong India-Dubai links as well as presentation of Bollywood and non-Bollywood films.
- Best works from Europe, North & South America, Turkey, Australasia and Iran will be shown in "The Cinema of the World programme".
- The African continent & Asia have their own sections – The Cinema of Asia & The Cinema of Africa.
- Local filmmakers can tell the world about themselves in the Emirati Voices section.
- Non-fiction documentaries will touch the most hot social, political & ecological problems in the Destination Documentary programme.
- Children will also have chance to speak – a special Children`s Cinema programme is also on the charts for this fun filled week of art and entertainment.
