The Mina Effect

The first 10k Abras Run was hosted at the Mina Seyahi on Friday, 23rd May. The event was extremely successful and attracted 160 plus participants to run the new course, which was designed specifically for the race. Participants started at the breakwater and were led on a beautiful run around the marina and through the grounds of the complex.

The 3rd MINA MILE Open Water Swimming Race 2008 will be held on Friday March 21st 2008 from 9am to 1pm in front of Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina, Dubai. The race is open to all residents in the UAE aged 13 and above. The event will offer races between 1600m, 800m individuals (Male and Female) and 200m relay for difference age groups. Entrance fee is 60Dhs per person and entrance forms are available at outlets of Sand and Sun Sport, and Club Mina of Le Meridien Mina Seyahi.

January 30th – 48 young gentlemen and ladies from Jebel Ali Primary school visited Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina (Mina Seyahi Complex Dubai) to add to their knowledge on Boats & Transportation. They visited the Dhow restaurant, (a moored, traditional Arabic boat), and were shown how the boat operates. The group then proceeded to the boats & yachts moored at the Dubai Marina (DIMC), to see the more modern front of boat industry development. The children were given a class on ‘Safety on board’ and were shown how to use a life jacket. The program ended with the activities on Barasti Beach and of course, ice-cream! Guests staying at the Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina can now put on their running shoes and enjoy an active workout! Our active instructor at the Club Mina will conduct the "Mina Run" every saturday, monday and friday. Guest can enquire about the run at the Club Mina and meet for a warm-up and a 5km run around the property at these times:

Saturday: 1800 - 1900hrs
Monday: 1800 - 1900hrs
Friday: 0800 - 0900hrs

We did it! Our 5 top lifeguards competed in the annual lifeguard championship which took place for the second time in Le Meridien Al Aqah in Fujeirah. On Sunday the 20th of May the fastest lifeguards from Le Meridien Mina Seyahi competed against all the other lifeguard teams from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.

This gave the opportunity to the guys to showcase their skills, which run in conjunction with numerous world-renowned lifeguard associations and subject to their regulation. Not only is it important to recognize these valuable individuals, but it is also essential to boost water safety awareness across the region.

A new fun fitness class for kids is now available at Club Mina. Playball is a concept where our highly qualified instructor Anneliese coaches a wide range of activities which improves children’s movement and motor skills.

The main objective of “Playball” is to enhance the children’s confidence and self esteem. They will get instructions, observe demonstrations and practice skills in a controlled, yet fun environment.

For the month of April we had the following challenge: One cardio exercise with 5 KM upright cycle and the strength challenge with the most possible basic sit-ups within 1 minute.

The beauty of surf-skiing is that anyone do it! It does not initially demand any particular skills or fitness level from its participants. There is no age limit and you can start from teenagers up. It is a great leveler and many times when learning, women will initially have the advantage over men, as it is not a sport entirely dominated by strength. Women often find the balance easier (probably best not to ask why), and they often take advice much more readily. The boats used are of an intermediate level, so they are not too challenging to learn on.

There are two things however that do take a bit of time to get used to:

1. Balance and
2. How to negotiate the surf.

SWIMALICIOUS! What a fantastic swimming gala we had with over 150 participants and 9 different events, Supersports Dubai teamed up with Club Mina  at the most perfect venue with the best ambiance, to create the  ultimate water thrills. The swimming enthusiasts truly had "their" moments, while their families  & friends proudly watched!
